100% Wool Worsted Weight Yarn
Camilla Valley Farm is pleased to offer this 100% Worsted Wool Yarn that is perfect for knitting sweaters, hats, mittens and other garments. We have created our Canadian Collection using a selection of yarns from a number of Spinning Mills across the country.
This Worsted weight 2-ply yarn is a staple of many of the small family run spinning mills scattered across Canada. The smaller size of these mills have allowed them to survive a difficult time in the textile industry when bigger mills have gone bankrupt. The wool is prepared without the abrasive cleaning process used in many commercial mills and as a result the yarn retains the sheep's natural lanolin. This produces a softer garment, especially when it comes in contact with the skin. The yarns are a mix of solid colours and heathered mixes selected to provide the perfect palete for the knitting designer.
Note that our Canadian Collection yarn is the perfect substitute for any project that calls for a Worsted weight yarn including Cabled and Fair-Isle designs. This includes any of the projects found in the book Fair Isle Sweaters Simplified by Ann and Eugene Bourgeois of Philosopher's Wool. This is a Worsted Weight 100% Wool Yarn in 28 beautiful shades. The yarn knits up with 21 stitches equaling 4 inches (10 cm) using 5.0mm (US Size 8) needles. Yarn is packaged in 4 ounce (112 gram) skeins with approx 200 yards (183 metres) of yarn in each.
