The Leclerc Compact floor loom provides a weaving width of 24" but is light but solid and can be easily moved when folded. It is especially designed for workshops and demonstrations and can be folded and transported even when the warp is in place and weaving has begun. The Compact utilizes a Jack mechanism.
When folded this 32" wide loom takes up only 18" of floor space making it perfect for the apartment or anyone who wants to weave on a floor room but does not have a large amount of space. To fold the loom, simply unscrew the two handles on the side of the loom and slide them up!
The loom can be ordered with 4 or 8 shafts and 6 or 10 treadles. The 4 shaft loom can also be upgraded later to an 8 shaft loom with a kit containing 4 additional shafts and 4 more treadles. This is sometimes refered to as a "4+4 loom". The Warp Beam is 1 7/8" (4 cm) in diameter and a second can be added for working with fibres of different elasticity. The warp beam can also be converted to support sectional warping.
New Features! Leclerc has enhanced the Compact Loom with improved shaft guides to make the shaft movements smoother, support for the take-up handle and free of charge, a set of wheels to make moving the loom easier. The wheels are mounted on the two back corners of the loom allowing the loom to be easily moved simply by lifting up the front beam. When all four legs of the loom is sitting on the floor, the wheels are raised off the ground so that the loom will not roll when weaving. These wheels can easily be removed if required and are also available to retrofit earlier Compact looms. |

The basic Compact loom can be customized to fit the weavers application with a number of options including a Double Warp Beam to allow independent tensioning of two different yarn types, a Sectional Warp Beam to speed up the warping process and Texsolv or Inserted Eye heddles depending upon the weavers preference.
Leclerc also offers a choice of loom benches to fit all weavers and maximize their comfort while weaving. All of these options can be added to your Compact loom order or can be added to an existing loom at a later date.
