Self-Striping Sock Yarn with Aloe Vera and Jojoba Oil
We are pleased to be able to offer this truly unique self-striping sock yarn with Jojoba and Aloe Vera.
In addition to making it a simple process to knit beautiful patterned socks by dyeing the pattern right into the yarn, Austermann has added Jojoba and Aloe Vera to the yarn to guard against skin dryness and inflammation.
This yarn is 75% Virgin Wool and 25% Nylon for both durability and softness. It is a fingering weight yarn with a gauge of 30 stitches per inch when knit on 2.5 to 3mm (U.S. size 1 or 2) needles. It is a Superwash Wool yarn so yarn care is simply machine wash, cool and dry flat.
We have 10 colour patterns of Austermann Step yarn available. Each 100 gram (3.5 ounce) ball will knit 1 pair of adult socks or two pairs of socks for a child. The yarn can also be used to knit pullovers or other garments. Contact us about the yarn requirements.

Jojoba and Aloe Vera are some of the oldest and well known medicinal plant products. Austermann Step yarn comes infused with Jojoba and Aloe Vera extract, two active components that care for feet on the go. The effect is proven to remain after more than 40 household washes. Because of this special treatment, Austermann Step yarn has a cashmere-like soft touch.
The oil of Jojoba bush fruit is not a vegetable oil, but a high-quality liquid wax. It protects skin against dryness without leaving behind a greasy film because it is completely absorbed by the skin. Jojoba oil can reduce inflammation, improve cell regeneration and calm the skin. It improves the elasticity of the skin and provides a comfortably fresh feeling. In addition, the numerous active substances carry vitamin A, E and F, amino acids as well as unsaturated fatty acids.
Aloe Vera has successfully been used in wellness and in some medical areas. Over 160 substances have been found in the plant, for example the vitamins A, C, D, E and traces of B12 as well as lipids and proteins. The enzyme Brady-kinase can be helpful with inflammations and pains, and Salicylic acid is known for its analgesic effect.
