Camilla Valley Farm Weavers' Supply is pleased to offer the same yarn that master rugweaver Jason Collingwood uses for his own beautiful rug creations. This durable Wool/Nylon blend (80/20%) can be used as either the weft or warp (8 epi) to produce a beautiful yet long lasting woven rug. Imported from England, this rug yarn is 1000 yds/lb (914m/lb) and comes in cones of aprox. 1.1 lb (0.5 kg).
In his classes, Jason normally suggest using Linen yarn as a warp when making wool rugs for it's strength and durability. We recommend our 4/12 Belgian Linen which as well as being very strong, also grips the wool weft to produce a tight weave. If you are using a Leclerc floor loom to weave with, the Weighted Beater Option is available for most models making it much easier to beat in the weft. Contact us for more information on adding this option.
Camilla Valley Farm stocks all colours of Jason Collingwood Rug Yarn for quick shipment. Each cone holds approximetly 1.1 lb (.5 kg) of yarn and are weighed and calculated based on the "per pound" pricing shown below:

Jason Collingwood has been weaving in his own workshop since 1987, after having learned rug weaving in his father Peter Collingwood's studio. Jason has exhibited and sold his work in many shows in Europe and the USA, including a show in Germany entitled, "The Best of British Young Designers" in March 1997. In 1996 and 1998 he was chosen to be a member of the elite "British Crafts Council Index of Selected Makers".
Jason added teaching to his itinerary in 1993, and now spends several months a year training rug weavers in the USA, Canada and Switzerland. His rugs, in over 120 designs, are sold around the world. Commissions include rugs for a castle in Switzerland and 24 wall pieces for the Sheraton Hotel in Tanzania.
Jason and Peter Collingwood are recognized as the authorities on the subject of Rug Weaving and as well as teaching hundreds of weavers around the world have have produced a collection of books and videos including Jason's Rug Weaving: Block Weaves and Shaft Switching and Jason Collingwood's Block Weave Technique as well as Peter's now out of print classics Rug Weaving Techniques: Beyond the Basics and The Techniques of Rug Weaving
