Knitting Workshop Schedule

Camilla Valley Farm is pleased to offer a series of one day weekend workshops to help knitters expand their skills and learn new techniques. These are hands-on courses focusing on specific techniques and taught by Tobi Wiggins (formerly of Wiggins Wool 'n Stuff).

All courses require basic knitting skills only - casting on, knitting and purling. Yarn for classes must be purchased from Camilla Valley Farm but you can bring your own needles if you have them, or purchase them from us.

Each of the workshops are $45 each (plus materials fee and tax) and run on Saturdays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in our store (click for directions). Refreshments will be provided.

Circular Knitting using the Magic Loop Method Saturday September 27th, 2008
Learn to knit socks using one long circular needle and the Magic Loop Method. You will learn how to shape the heel, pick up stitches, shape the toe and how to graft the toe stitches together. Once you have mastered the Magic Loop Method, you can also apply it to other circular patterns including hats, mittens and sleeves. And, it eliminates the need to own multiple lengths of the same sized circular needles.
Materials required:
	100 grams DK weight sock yarn ($9.95) 3.75mm or 4.0mm Circular Needle 60cm-80cm long (available for purchase if required)

Thrum Mittens Saturday October 4th 2008
The warmest mittens you will ever wear with a real fleece lining knit right in! Can be done on double pointed needles or circular needles using the Magic Loop method. Great to give as gifts.
Materials required:
	4oz Worsted Weight Wool ($7.50) Package of Thrums ($2.95) 4.0mm Double Pointed Needles or 4.0mm circular needles (available for purchase if required)

Cables Saturday October 18th, 2008
Untangle the mystery of cables by knitting a sampler of different patterns. Both written and charted patterns will be provided and discussed.
Materials required:
	4 oz Worsted Weight Wool ($7.50) 5.0mm Needles (available for purchase if required) Cable Needle (available for purchase if required)

Lace Knitting Saturday October 25th, 2008
Learn Lace-Knitting Techniques by knitting a scarf using a beautiful lace-weight Lambswool blend yarn. Reading a lace pattern, both written and charted will be covered.
Materials required:
	1 oz Ultra-Lace Wool ($7.50) 3.0mm or 3.25mm circular lace needles 60cm or 80cm long (available for purchase if required)

Fair-Isle Christmas Stocking Saturday November 1st, 2008
Just in time for Christmas! Learn the technique of fair isle knitting as you knit a festive stocking using yarn that knits up quickly.
Materials required:
	Two 4 oz skeins Worsted Weight Wool ($7.50 each) in 2 different colours 5.0mm Double-Pointed or Circular Needles (available for purchase if required)
