Leclerc Loom Sticker Location by Model

Since the mid 1950's Leclerc has attached various forms of stickers on their looms to provide model and manufacturing date information. This has not always been consistent as the sticker style and the format of the information have changed over the years.

Note that unfortunately quite a number of these stickers disappear over the years as the glue dries up and they fall off. In some cases they loom owner will re-attach them and may not put them in the same location so the information here may not match what is found on the loom.

The location of the sticker has also varied model by model and over time. This guide gives Leclerc loom owners an idea of where the sticker on their loom may be found and also helps confirm if they have been lost. Fanny/Mira and "F/M" Type

The most common place to find the sticker on these Counterbalance looms is on the front right side of the frame attached to the upper horizontal beam near the Take-Up Motion handle.

On the earlier models made before 1970, the red sticker was attached to the right side of the lower Beater Batten. For a year or so around 1971/1972 special "Nilus Leclerc" company stickers on the side of the loom combined the model information with the company name (see below) but this was not continued. After this the stickers were put on the right side.

Nilus Models

Between the mid-1950's and about 1970 Leclerc attached the red sticker to the right side of the lower beater batten.

As in the other floor loom models special combined company and model stickers were used in the first years of the 1970's before the sticker was moved to the upper right side of the front Jack Box cover close to the frame pawls for the Cloth Beam.

In later years the sticker can be found on the front upper horizontal frame piece on the left side of the loom.

Nilus II Models

Since the Nilus II can be built as a Jack, Counterbalance or Countermarch loom the sticker can be found in different places.

The two locations we have seen are on the right side of the front of the loom on the upper horizontal frame piece behind the Take-Up Motion handle and on the upper horizontal frame piece on the front left side of the loom.

In later years the sticker can be found on the front upper horizontal frame piece on the left side of the loom.

Artisat Models

Initially when Leclerc started making the Artisat in the late 1960's a sticker was attached to the right side of the lower beater. In 1971/1972 a combined "Nilus Leclerc" company and "Artisat" model sticker was used on the side of the loom.

From 1972 onward the most common place to find this sticker was on the upper right front corner of the front jack box cover like many of the other Jack loom models.

In later years the sticker can be found on the front upper horizontal frame piece on the left side of the loom.

Colonial Models

For the Colonial and Colonial I loom models the sticker is normally found on the right side of the front of the loom on the upper horizontal frame piece behind the Take-Up Motion handle.

For Colonial v2 models the sticker can be found on the front upper horizontal frame piece on the left side of the loom.

Dorothy and other Table Looms

Leclerc normally attraches the stickers for the Dorothy table loom on the inside of the back castle cover plate near the plastic or metal Lever Latch.

On some earlier looms like the Jano, Meco and Minerva a Red sticker was often attached to the right side of the lower beater batten.

Minerva Model

Leclerc normally attraches the stickers for the Minerva loom on the right side of the front jack box cover just above the cloth roller near the weavers right knee.

Combined Company/Model Sticker

Leclerc looms normally had a large "Nilus Leclerc" company logo sticker on one or both sides of the loom and then put a smaller sticker with the specific model, date and configuration on the inside of the loom somewhere as described above.

In 1971/1972 for about a year Leclerc tried using a different sticker that added the model name and had room for the configuration and date information to be written in. The stickers were only used for a short time and the information marked in pen or typed on the sticker often disappeared or smudged fairly quickly.
